NATCONSUMERS consortium is a trans-disciplinary, inter-cultural, multi-sector team that jointly brings in all the expertise, knowledge, and tools that are necessary for the success of the project. It also brings in a strong resource base of personnel, equipment, and from synergies with other projects that guarantees the fundamental building block upon which the project can develop successfully.
ARIOSZ LTD. (ARI)
Ariosz was founded in 2003 in Budapest, by a number of experienced social and market researchers. The mission of Ariosz is to provide its clients with deep insight to empower our clients’ business intelligence units with information stemming from in-depth and state-of-the-art marketing research solutions together with intensive consultancy using both primary and secondary research data complemented by sophisticated means of data mining techniques. Our competitive sector clients’ are major representatives of domestic utility companies, the telecommunications industry and financial institutions. Beyond that, Ariosz has always taken pride of having engaged in professional partnerships with national level governmental stakeholders in Hungary since its inception. One of our specialties is complex modelling based on enormous transactional databases generated by our clients service processes complemented by quantitative market research outputs. During our 10+ years of work we have repeatedly collaborated with other research institutions or consultancies playing different roles such as workgroup partners or consortium leaders. Izertis S.L (http://www.izertis.com) is a Spanish SME, founded in 1987, focused on consulting and IT services, providing high added value services and solutions in the ICT area that meet current company needs. Growth experimented in recent years, jointly with the international expansion and the development of over 1.000 projects position IZERTIS as one of the national technology companies with highest growth rate in the last period. A key value of IZERTIS are the strategical alliances with big IT players as Microsoft, Dell, VMWare, Cisco, Oracle, Intel or HP.
The whole group joins more than 300 professionals and turnover at the end of 2015 was 18 M€.
Regarding Innovation, during the last three years the company has strongly reinforced its strategy increasing dedicated own resources and also growing participation and success in relevant national and EU funding programmes. Valor, Desarrollo e Innovación S.L. (VDI)
VDI is an Electronic and Telecom Company specialized on SmartHome solutions that include remote electricity measurement and analysis, demand response solutions and heating control, including electric heaters. VDI technologies include cloud based technologies, internet gateways and radiofrequency home area networks. VDI know how includes data mining and data processing of electric data for power disaggregation, power quality analysis, patterns detection or customer segmentation. VDI designs and manufacturers its own products, adapts their electronic for OEM projects or tailored made solutions. VDI can manage a project from hardware to software user interface, so VDI have a final user centred approach. VDI solutions help European utilities to offer their customers the best way to access their consumption, and to overcome the particular technological or legal barriers of each country. VDI members have participated on 15 R&D projects, and are authors of 4 patents. VDI combines research and development capabilities with the know-how of develop products for massive deployments as well as a strong background of the Smart Home and Smart Grid situation.
National Institute for consumer Research (SIFO)
National Institute for Consumer Research (SIFO) is an independent research institute that conducts consumer research. The board of directors is appointed by the Ministry of Children, Equality and Social Inclusion which also provides the basic funding. SIFO currently has a staff of 40. The scientific staff is comprised of researchers in social and natural sciences (engineers, sociologists, social anthropologists, economists). SIFO’s projects are organized into three categories: household economy, consumer culture and technology and environment.
SIFO is the only institute in Norway solely concerned with consumer research, and is as such responsible for developing expertise on the relevant fields. Importance is placed on research as well as the dissemination of information to various authorities, consumer-oriented institutions, research and scientific institutions, private industry, as well as to consumers.
SIFO has been part of several EU financed projects within FP5-7 and has been the coordinator of: BarEnergy, NanoPlat, TrustinFood, Obesity Governance, Toolsust. Furthermore, SIFO has been responsible for the consumer perspectives in SCORE and Welfare Quality (Animal Welfare).
Ricerca sul Sistema Energetico (RSE)
RSE SpA was established to take over funded research activities of national and international interest and started operating on January 1st 2006. About 350 technicians and researchers – and their main laboratories – carry out strategic research in the electricity and energy sector, with strong emphasis on experimental applications. The mission is to perform public interest R&D programs to address the national energy, environmental and economic goals, with an open view to the EU research initiatives.
RSE SpA is currently 100% owned by GSE, ”Gestore Servizi Energetici” SpA, a public company entirely owned by the Italian Government.
On the basis of three-year Implementing Agreements for the research activities on the electric system with the Ministry of the Economic Development (MiSE), RSE SpA is mainly financed through a public fund related to the national electric system.RSE is recognised in Europe as a Non-profit Research Organisation with a wide and very successful role in integrating the national research programmes with the EU directives and plans: it is currently cooperating in more than 60 international research projects and coordinates as leading partner more than 150 main research centres and companies in the energy field in Europe. RSE is moreover actively involved in supporting the Ministry of Economic Development with the aim of implementing the EU Strategic Energy Technology Plan (SET Plan): namely the Joint Programme of the European Energy Research Alliance (EERA) on Smart Grids (as JP Leader) and on CCS and Storage, as well as the European Industrial Initiatives on Electricity Grids (EEGI) and Wind Energy (EEWI).

VaasaETT’s unique collaborative approach enables it to draw on an extensive network of several thousand energy practitioners around the world who regularly contribute to its research activities or take part in industry events it organizes thus allowing VaasaETT to integrate global knowledge and global best practice into its areas of expertise. VaasaETT’s truly global focus is reflected by research and strategic support having been provided to a diverse array of organizations on 5 continents including for instance 28 of the Fortune Global 500 companies, the European Commission, Governments and public research bodies in Europe, Japan, the UAE, the Middle East and Australia.
Strategic Design Scenarios SPRL (SDS)
Strategic Design Scenarios is a sustainability innovation lab specialised in strategic design, scenario building, co-design with users and community centred approaches. SDS activities are based on projective techniques such as story-telling, story-boarding, scenarios scripting. In particular SDS co-develops visual forms of scenarios based on short video clips or sequences of still images to facilitate the engagement and the strategic conversation with private companies, public authorities and local stakeholders. SDS research activities are focussing innovation dynamics, sustainable living, collaborative services, design for behavioural change, local development and regional/urban planning by an acupuncture of micro-projects. The lab is active in various fields such as energy use, sustainable cities, public service innovation, emerging uses, interaction design, social inclusion and education. Offices are based in Brussels and offer facilities for co-design and interaction with users. The studio is equipped for video-sketching, rapid prototyping and product-service systems simulation. SDS was partner in various European research projects investigating the emergence of sustainable solutions (EMUDE, SUSHOUSE, CORPUS, EMUDE), the innovation process in small and medium-sized enterprises (INFU, UCIM, E-VAN, ADAPT), the conception of product-service systems (HiCS, MEPSS). SDS collaborates with the 10th Framework of Programmes on Sustainable Consumption and Production supported by UNEP, UN DESA and the Swedish on Sustainable Lifestyles and within WWF One Planet Mobility programme.
DRAXIS Environmental SA (DRAXIS) -Greece
DRAXIS was founded in 2000 in Thessaloniki â€“ Greece, focusing on providing consulting, solution development, implementation and management of Environmental Technologies. DRAXIS can support the whole life cycle of Environmental projects, from the requirements to the development and the implementation and finally, to management and maintenance. DRAXIS can assist local, national and European authorities, as well as private organizations, in Environmental Management and its effective integration into the decision making process. Through the combined use of Geographic Information System technologies, Environmental know-how and Environmental Remote Sensing and Database Software Products our clients can achieve substantial improvements in Environmental performance. Through the various EU projects, and especially the ENORASIS project, in which we were coordinator, we obtained the expertise in market consolidation, dissemination and training. Thus, DRAXIS is the appropriate partner to disseminate the project activities and results in creative ways and to raise awareness on the potential benefits of NATCONSUMERS solutions in the wider community.
Adiconsum is a consumer association – included in the national Register of Social Promotion Association (law n. 383/2000) – with about 150,000 members, created in 1987 by the initiative of CISL Trade Union. It is committed to consumer protection and the promotion of a sustainable and socially responsible consumption and operates in full autonomy from the political parties, the government and the Trade Union itself. It is present in all the Italian Regions with about 300 local offices, which provide consumers with information and advice. It is supported by the work of numerous operators and volunteers.
Energy Saving Trust England (EST)
The Energy Saving Trust (EST) is the UK’s leading impartial organisation helping people save energy and reduce carbon emissions. We do this by providing expert insight and knowledge about energy saving, supporting people to take action, helping local authorities, communities and businesses to save energy and providing quality assurance for goods, services and installers.
The Energy Saving Trust is an independent, non-profit making organisation that acts as a bridge between government, consumers, trade, businesses, local authorities and the energy market with four offices across the UK in London, Edinburgh, Cardiff and Belfast. The Energy Saving Trust provides impartial information and advice specifically designed to help consumers take action to save energy. The Energy Saving Trust has considerable experience of working on a portfolio of EU-funded pan-European energy projects.
Fundación para el Progreso del Soft Computing (ECSC) - Terminated partner
ECSC is a young R&D centre located in Mieres (Spain) created with the purpose of serving as a world-class institution focused on basic and applied research in the area of Soft Computing as well as in the transference of technology of intelligent systems to solve industrial real-world problems. Currently, the centre has 36 employees including 23 international researchers (almost the half are not spanish) structured in five research units. During its seven years of activity, the researchers at the ECSC have produced more than 500 publications in citation index journals and proceedings, 8 books, and 5 patents, in areas related with this project. One of the patents is currently being commercialized at international level.Â At European level, ECSC is coordinating 4 FP7 projects (Marie Curie ITN-MIBISOC, Marie Curie IIF-COLLIS.EUS, COST Action IC0702 and FP7-SEC-MEPROCS) and acts as partner in other 4. At national level, ECSC leads 4 basic research projects and is involved in 6 strategic national projects developed by big consortium in which a balanced number of academic and industrial partners are represented.
